When dogs live as strays on the streets, they have a lot of different challenges to overcome. For a start, they don’t know where their next meal is going to come from, so they’re always on the lookout for food.
When it comes to finding a safe place to sleep, they frequently have to improvise their shelter. And, of course, they are vulnerable to any medical emergencies that may arise.
A simple cut could cause them to suffer or die because they do not have access to medical care.
When help arrived, one stray dog was on the verge of death from a massive neck wound. When rescuers found him, he had collapsed on the street from exhaustion and medical trauma.
Animal Aid Unlimited was on the case, determined to bring him back from the brink of death. The rescuers worked quickly but gently to make him comfortable before lifting him and carrying him into a vehicle for transport to their facility.
The dog was given a medical evaluation once he arrived at a safe location. His wound was meticulously cleaned and set, and he was given much-needed pain relief.
When it appeared that he would survive, it was time to start the healing process. He had a long road to recovery ahead of him, but there were some encouraging signs of progress along the way.
Because he was too weak to feed himself, they had to use a syringe at first. But by the next day, he was able to feed himself! And by the ninth day, the wound had healed beautifully!
With a wound so extreme, this angel might have felt hopeless. But love keeps hope alive.
