This is the moment of a dramatic rescue of a newborn elephant stuck on its back after sliding into a small ditch. The elephant was captured on camera by a bystander who claimed that she had struggled for about three hours with her four legs in the air before being saved by a rescue crew.
Officials from Iɴᴅɪᴀn Forest acted quickly to save the animal after people reported hearing the calf’s screams and seeing that she was unable to stand.
The team was called to the sᴄᴇɴᴇ in the Haridwar district of west Iɴᴅɪᴀ and came up with a plan to use a JCB excavator to create a hole so the elephant could stand up.
Later, she was reunited with the rest of her herd after being observed stumbling out of the ditch. The elephant herd was returning to the jungle after raiding a farm when the calf fell into a ditch and became stranded, according to forest official Komal Singh.
